Read on for information about tax deadlines and how extensions work. But first let me note that I am offering a special free service to assist those who need a little more time to get their tax returns done. I will file your tax extensions for you at no cost. And I will do it electronically – direct into the IRS system – so that there is no possibility of your extension getting lost in the mail.
Whether additional taxes are owed or not, some people just dread the whole tax return process regardless of outcome. Numbers, paperwork, tax code – it’s not most people’s cup of tea. But as you will see, getting this done at right time and in the right way is really important.
As a reminder, if you file an extension and you still owe money you are assessed the failure-to-pay penalty: 0.5% of your tax liability per month (6% per year.) That’s not ideal, but it is not ruinous either.
But if you do not file by April 15th and do not file an extension you get hit with the failure-to-file penalty of 5% per month! (Note: both penalties cap at 25%)
So it’s important not only to file the extension, but also to come up with a fair idea of whether you owe a bit more in taxes. I can assist with that of course.
This is why, as noted above, I’m offering free extensions for anyone who needs them. Contact me right away so that this can be taken care of instantly – and so that you can avoid these disastrous penalties.
And for the last time, no not these extensions! These are mine. You can’t have them.
